Research Associate, focusing on al-Qalqashandī’s encyclopaedia Ṣubḥ al-Aʿshā fī ṣināʿat al-inshāʾ. Research Project on “Profession and Training in Islamic Chancery Practice (adab al-kātib) or: Administration as the Ultimate Discipline” under the auspices of the Collaborative Research Center 933 “Material Text Cultures. Materiality and Presence of Writing in Non-Typographic Societies”, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Courses taught include “Orality and Literacy during the Early and Middle Periods of Islamic History” (winter term 2013/14), “Media History of the Middle East” (summer term 2014), “A Close Reading of ‘Classics’ in Islamic Studies” (winter term 2015/16), “Islam and the Body” (summer term 2016) and “The Body, ritual and habitus in Islam” (winter term 2017/18).
